Wingspan is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game from designer Elizabeth Hargrave and Stonemaier Games. It is the winner of the prestigious 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres award.
You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth:
- Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower
- Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors
- Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them
The winner is the player with the most points after 4 rounds.
The Swift-Start Promo Pack includes first-round walkthrough guides and specific new bird cards to use with them. For those who already own Wingspan, the swift-start guides are still helpful for teaching new players, and the 10 new cards can be shuffled into the bird deck.

If you want a fun simple intro into boardgames then look no further! Wingspan is thematically pleasing with high quality components. The price range is reasonable for the hobby and it is easy to get to the table with great organization.
It takes place over four rounds while you build up your bird sanctuary with a plethora of different north america birds. Competing for the most victory points. There is even a soothing bird playlist on Spotify to jam out to while you play. There is an easy learn to play scenario to help you jump right in.
10/10 would reccomend.
